Hazel for Slack: the AI operator that answers your business questions

Ask Hazel about Shopify orders, ad spend, subscriptions and support tickets from a DM, a channel, or Slack's AI assistant panel — and get the numbers behind every answer.

September 10, 2026

Hazel is an AI coworker for consumer brands. It connects to the tools you already run — Shopify, Meta Ads, Klaviyo, Gorgias, Recharge and two dozen more — and answers questions about your business data in plain English. The Hazel Slack app brings that into Slack, so questions like "how did revenue do yesterday?" get answered where your team already asks them instead of waiting on a dashboard.

Installing the app.

You'll need a Hazel account and a Slack workspace — Slack is how you interact with Hazel here. To connect Slack, sign in at app.fromhazel.ai, go to Integrations → Actions, click Connect on the Slack card, and approve the requested permissions in the Slack authorization screen that opens. A Slack workspace admin may need to approve the install.

What Hazel does

Hazel works in five places inside Slack:

  • Direct message. Ask Hazel a question the way you'd ask a colleague. It holds the thread, so follow-ups like "now break that out by channel" work.
  • Channel mention. Invite Hazel to a channel with /invite @Hazel, then type @Hazel with your question. It replies in-thread.
  • AI assistant panel. Open Hazel in Slack's assistant container alongside whatever you're reading. Requires a paid Slack plan.
  • Scheduled digests. Hazel posts a recurring summary into a channel you choose, at a frequency you set, and you can change or switch it off at any time. When a digest is first set up in a shared channel, Hazel posts an intro message naming the person who configured it.
  • Actions on your behalf. Beyond answering, Hazel can act in Slack for you once you authorize it — sending messages, replying in threads, and managing the conversations you have access to. Hazel acts as you, with your own Slack permissions, so it can never reach a channel, conversation or file you couldn't reach yourself. This is optional: decline it and everything above still works.
Real questions, real answers

What teams ask Hazel in Slack:

"How did revenue do yesterday vs. the same day last week?"

"What's our blended CAC month to date?"

"Which products drove the most support tickets in August?"

"Post yesterday's revenue, orders and AOV to #leadership every morning."

Frequently asked questions

How do I install the Hazel Slack app?

From inside Hazel rather than from Slack's side. Sign in at app.fromhazel.ai, go to Integrations → Actions, click Connect on the Slack card, and approve the requested permissions in the Slack authorization screen that opens. A Slack workspace admin may need to approve the install. If you don't have a Hazel account yet, book a call first.

What permissions does Hazel ask for, and why?

Only what the app needs to function: receive messages you send it directly (so it can answer your questions), be notified of mentions in channels it's invited to, post its replies, appear in Slack's assistant panel, and read basic profile information so it can address you correctly and respect what you're allowed to see. Hazel does not request access to your workspace message history, your files, or private channels it hasn't been invited to.

Does Hazel read my Slack messages?

To answer questions, only the message you send it and the thread it's replying in. Hazel does not crawl channels, index workspace history, or export message data, and it can't see channels it hasn't been invited to. If you separately authorize Hazel to take actions on your behalf, it acts as you with your own Slack permissions — so it can reach what you can reach, and nothing more. That authorization is optional and can be revoked at any time.

Do I need a paid Slack plan?

Not for most of it. DMs, channel mentions and scheduled digests work on any Slack plan, free included. Hazel in Slack's AI assistant panel requires a paid Slack plan, because the assistant container is a paid Slack feature.

How do I get support?

Email [email protected]. No extra account required, and we reply within one business day. You can also type help to Hazel in Slack for usage instructions and a support link.

Can I ask questions about my Shopify data in Slack?

Yes. Hazel connects to your Shopify store and answers questions about it inside Slack — in a direct message, or by mentioning @Hazel in a channel. Ask "how did revenue do yesterday vs. the same day last week?" or "which products sold best in August?" and you get the answer with the numbers behind it in seconds. There's no report to configure and no dashboard to build.

Do I need to be a Slack admin to install Hazel?

Not necessarily. Any Slack member can start the connection from inside Hazel, but whether it completes depends on your workspace's settings. Many workspaces require an admin to approve new apps — if yours does, Slack turns your install into a request and routes it to an admin automatically, and Hazel connects once they approve. If app approval isn't restricted in your workspace, you can install it yourself.

Can I ask about Meta Ads and Shopify in the same question?

Yes. Hazel ingests every source you connect into one analytical store, so a question that crosses them is a single prompt rather than two exports and a spreadsheet. Ask "Meta spend is up 20% this week — did orders follow?" and Hazel joins your ad spend to your Shopify orders and answers. The same works across Klaviyo, Google Ads, Gorgias, Recharge and two dozen more.
