Hazel for Attentive: the AI coworker for your SMS program

Hazel reads your Attentive data (campaigns, journeys, subscribers, messages, events, and attributed revenue) and answers business questions in plain English. No dashboards to build.

May 23, 2026

Hazel is an AI coworker that connects to your Attentive account and answers business questions about your SMS program the way an analyst would. Once connected, Hazel ingests your Attentive campaigns, journeys, subscribers, individual messages, subscriber events, and revenue attribution, then refreshes every few hours. Ask Hazel which campaigns drove the most revenue last month, what your SMS list grew by in Q1, how your opt-in rate is trending, or whether the Memorial Day send hit its goal, and you get an answer with the numbers behind it. For consumer brands using Attentive, Hazel replaces the work of opening the analytics dashboard, exporting CSVs, and reconciling SMS performance against email and on-site sales by hand. Hazel pairs Attentive data with your store, ad platforms, email, and subscriptions so you can ask cross-channel questions. SMS vs. email contribution, opt-in lift from on-site pop-ups, LTV of dual-subscribed customers. In a single prompt.

What Hazel does

Hazel reads the Attentive data that matters for running a consumer SMS program and lets you query it conversationally:

  • Campaigns: sends, delivery rates, click rates, conversion rates, and attributed revenue per blast, sliced by audience, day of week, or send time
  • Journeys: triggered flow performance (welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase) with per-step engagement and revenue
  • Messages: individual SMS and MMS performance so you can A/B test copy, emoji, discount framing, and CTAs without leaving the conversation
  • Subscribers: list size, growth rate, opt-in source, opt-outs, and segment overlap with your email file
  • Events: subscriber actions over time so you can isolate engagement cohorts and reachability
  • Attributed revenue: SMS revenue contribution by campaign, journey, and time window, comparable against email and on-site sales

Because Hazel ingests Attentive forward from connection, the longer you're connected the deeper your historical record gets, and Hazel always joins Attentive data with the rest of your stack for full-funnel questions.

Real questions, real answers

Common questions consumer brands ask about their Attentive data:

"Compare SMS vs. email revenue this quarter and break it out by campaign and flow."

"How much has our SMS list grown in Q1, and what percent of new customers are opted in by week?"

"What is our SMS opt-in rate from on-site pop-ups vs. checkout opt-in?"

"How many SMS sends did we do for our semi-annual sale last year, and how did revenue compare to email?"

"Look at SMS performance from send 1 of our latest GWP launch and compare to other send 1s from GWP promotions this year."

"What percent of our active subscribers are reachable by email or SMS, collective and respective?"

"Is the customer who is subscribed to both email and SMS more likely to convert than email-only over the last 2 years?"

"Did we see an increase in SMS sends last week, and did that move revenue or just message volume?"

How your data flows
How it works

How Hazel connects to Attentive.

Generate an API key from your Attentive account settings and paste it into Hazel's Attentive connector. One step, no developer required. If you have multiple Attentive accounts (e.g., a US and an international program), connect each one.

What syncs.

Campaigns, journeys, messages, subscribers, subscriber events, and revenue attribution. SMS, MMS, email, and push events flow through the same connector, so if your Attentive plan covers more than SMS, Hazel captures it all.

How often.

Roughly every 6 hours, automatically.

Webhook-based, no historical backfill.

Attentive's data feed is webhook-based, which means Hazel captures every event going forward from the day you connect, but it cannot pull historical data from before the connection was made. The sooner you connect, the deeper your record gets. For year-over-year questions on day one, Hazel pairs Attentive with your Shopify revenue data to triangulate channel contribution.

Auth.

Attentive API key stored encrypted. Hazel only reads your data; it never sends messages or modifies your account.

MCP access

Looking for an Attentive MCP for analytics?

Attentive does not ship a first-party MCP server today. Unlike Klaviyo, which has an official one. The Attentive MCP servers that exist are third-party: StackOne (most adopted, read/write), Zapier, viaSocket, and Improvado. Those are useful if you're building your own agent that needs to create campaigns, manage subscribers, or trigger sends directly inside Attentive.

Hazel already has your Attentive data in an analytical store, no MCP wiring needed.

Rather than connecting an LLM directly to Attentive's API and writing the analysis logic yourself, Hazel ingests your Attentive history, normalizes campaigns, journeys, messages, subscribers, events, and revenue attribution, and joins them with Shopify, subscriptions, ad spend, and reviews. That means questions like "what was the revenue lift of last quarter's SMS sends after netting out organic" are one prompt, not a chain of API calls.

If you specifically want MCP access to Hazel itself, that's available too. Ping us at https://calendly.com/clint-dunn/clint-hazel-intro.

Frequently asked questions

Does Hazel work with Attentive?

Yes. Connect Attentive in Hazel by pasting an API key from your Attentive account settings. Hazel ingests your campaigns, journeys, messages, subscribers, events, and attributed revenue every few hours.

How is Hazel different from Attentive AI Pro?

Attentive AI Pro (including Audiences AI, Identity AI, Send Time AI, and Brand Voice AI) lives inside Attentive and optimizes SMS performance using Attentive's own data. Those tools help you send better messages to better segments at better times. Hazel ingests your Attentive data alongside Shopify, Klaviyo, ad platforms, subscriptions, and reviews, and answers cross-channel business questions Attentive AI can't reach on its own. Like "what's the LTV of customers who opted into both SMS and email vs. SMS-only" or "did our Memorial Day SMS campaign drive net-new revenue or just pull forward orders that would have happened anyway."

How is Hazel different from Postscript AI?

Postscript is an Attentive competitor. An SMS marketing platform with its own AI features for message generation and two-way conversational commerce. If you're evaluating Postscript vs. Attentive, that's a platform decision. Hazel is not a platform. It's the analyst layer that sits on top of whichever SMS tool you choose and answers business questions across your full stack. If you switch from Attentive to Postscript (or vice versa), Hazel stitches both timelines together.

How is Hazel different from Polar Analytics or Triple Whale?

Polar and Triple Whale are dashboard-first, attribution-heavy tools. Hazel is analyst-first: you ask any question about your SMS program or business in plain language, not just attribution. No dashboards to configure, no metrics to predefine. Hazel works the way an analyst would, starting from your question and pulling in data from every source you've connected.

How often does Hazel pull data from Attentive?

Roughly every 6 hours.

Will Hazel send messages or write to my Attentive account?

No. Hazel is read-only. We never send SMS, modify subscribers, or change your campaigns.

Can Hazel backfill my historical Attentive data?

No. Attentive's data feed is webhook-based, so Hazel captures every event going forward from the day you connect, but cannot pull data from before that. Connect as early as possible to maximize your historical record. For pre-connection year-over-year questions, Hazel pairs Attentive with Shopify revenue data to triangulate.

Does Hazel work with Attentive email and push, not just SMS?

Yes. If your Attentive plan covers email or push, Hazel ingests those events through the same connector and you can ask multi-channel questions in one prompt.

Can Hazel compare SMS revenue across platforms if we switched from Attentive to Klaviyo (or vice versa)?

Yes. If you connect both, Hazel stitches the timeline together and accounts for the platform change in any year-over-year SMS analysis. See also: Hazel for Klaviyo for the inverse comparison.

Is Hazel related to Attentive AI or Attentive.ai?

No. Attentive.ai is a different company (autonomous landscape estimating). Hazel works with Attentive (attentive.com). The SMS and email marketing platform for consumer brands. "Attentive AI" and "Attentive AI Pro" are Attentive's own product features; Hazel is a separate product that ingests Attentive data for cross-channel analytics.
